The book kept me interested in how the police department was going to catch the perpetrators. The murderer was revealed fairly early on in the book but it was down to the last part before the police realized who it was. There was enough suspense to keep me entertained. The main subject of the book however, is about depression and the lies one tells themselves about it. Having had a struggle with depression in my past, I can truly say that it is imperative to fight those lies with the truth of God’s Word. Read scripture and repeat it to yourself over and over until you can begin to hear what God thinks of you. Ask the LORD for help with this and He won’t let you down.

Excellent first book in the Harbored Secrets series! I really enjoyed this romantic suspense novel. I loved Lane and Charlie, and Lane’s son Noah was adorable! I also loved the mental health representation, so well done. The mystery was super intriguing and I didn’t guess the villain’s identity which was great! I recommend Living Lies and cannot wait to read the rest of the Harbored Secrets series.

In Natalie Waters debut novel, “Living Lies” we are given a candid look at how clinical depression and PTSD help shape people’s lives as well as negative perceptions that arise, sometimes cruelly, from people who are unfamiliar with these disorders.
Lane has desperately tried to be normal. Striving to fit into everyone else’s mold she continually finds herself falling short. Between parents who don’t understand her and blaming herself for the death of her husband how can she move on and function for her young son? Maybe he’s better off without her.
Charlie has struggled with wanting his father’s approval. A career military man, his dad can’t understand his choice to leave the marines. Having seen death and destruction amidst the horrors of war, he’s ready to slow down and gain perspective. He takes a job with his uncle, the sheriff of a small town. Nothing happens there, so it’s the perfect place to hide out for a while.
As crime stalks the small town of Walton, Lane and Charlie are drawn together and must come to terms with their personal demons and their growing attraction to each other.
Miguel has lived his life with PTSD. He’s used his artistic talents to help control the voices in his living nightmare. When he’s unjustly arrested for a brutal murder, can he keep his thoughts together enough to remember the one thing that could free him? Will it make any difference to the opinions others have already formed about him?
Full of suspense, twists and turns played off authentic characters this is a wonderful beginning for a great new author.

Lane Kent has returned to her small home town of Walton when her 5 year old son . She is a widower and owns a café called Way Station Café . One day while she is out reflecting on her life she runs into a man named Charlie Lynch . Charlie is out ridding his mt. bike and enjoying a day off before he starts his new job in this quiet little town of Walton. Charlie is going to be a deputy and when he see Lane he thinks she might jump from the bridge so he approaches her. Lane panics and runs away. While she is running she will stumble upon a dead girl. Who is this girl? Why is she dead and how? Was it murder? Charlie Lynch has move to the small town of Walton to be a deputy. This will be a new start and new career for him. His aunt Byrdie works at the local café and his uncle is the sheriff. Walton is known to be a quiet small town until one day a woman named Lane finds a young dead girl in the woods. Now Charlie finds himself working his first case . It's a shock to this town . There hasn't been a murder or mystery death in years. Who is this young girl and how did she die? This is a suspense who dun it book with lots of twists and turns. This book also talks about two serious issues depression and PTSD. The heroine deals with depression and the stamina that goes with it and there are others in the story that deal with PTSD. Both issues are handled well by the author . The author brings to light these two illness and how they affect everyone involved. She also touched on how people with thee illness can be treated badly and how we need to have compassion for people with these illnesses. I really like reading it. I like the mystery theme of the story . I recommend this one . This is a clean, Christian read.
