Wow, just wow. That was an emotional roller coaster that I could not put down. I read it in one sitting, which doesn’t happen very often. Although, I’m not sure if it’s one I’d be able to read again, considering I was in tears for half of it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you can bring out that kind of emotion in me, that’s a solid 5 stars! Frustration mounted between the two mains, just talk to each other!! However, sometimes that’s easier said than done when you are both scared. I don’t want to go into more, for fear I’ll spoil it, but it is clear these two were destined for each other, even with a painful detour.

My first from this author but not my last. I felt for Beth. Felt her agony. At the same time I wanted to shake some senses into her.

This is a good read.
If you want a book you cannot put down this is it.
The characters are good. Beth bestfriend tries to set her up with a hot date.
There is humor and romance and sadness but will love conquer all.

I had read a number of Dianes books leading upto this full length novel so I was expecting great things and wasn't disappointed. This is a lovely book to read, whose believable characters draw you into their love story with a mixture of sassy humour (the restaurant scene is such fun), real life insecurities, the difficulties in starting a new relationship (I was looking to accesorise with a lesbian from ebay) and committing to it (the estrangement) but ultimately how love conquers all and is something to treasure (the ending)
Up until this, all of Dianes books I had read had either been short novellas or contributions to anthologies with other authors. It's lovely to see her take the opportunity to expand into a longer format, which allows taking the time to describe lovely scenes, create fantastic characters that you'll care about and add little nuance of detail that keeps you wanting to turn that next page.If you're new to the lesfic genre or even Diane Marina as a novelist this is a worthwhile addition to your kindle collection and one that you'll come back to regularly on those lazy Sundays. Personally, I can't wait for more of the same from this talented author, but if this is your first, be sure to check out her others. Imperial hotel is perfect for those commutes into work !!!

How Still My Love is an engaging debut novel for Diane Marina, but suspect Ms. Marina has been writing for some time. I like this author. The story itself is not too unusual except for actually meeting that special someone on a blind date. Her writing style is engaging, written in first person, and flows from one scene to the next. I liked both protagonists (Beth and Toni) and the ancillary characters (Laural, Will, Bryce). While I think the topic of infidelity is almost off-limits to discuss in lesfic, I appreciated Ms. Marina shining a light.

My only issue is that this story is not all-in. I can almost feel the brakes engage at certain points. This is a straight up story where all the characters are consistent in their roles 99% of the time. Even the seductress (Ricki) held no surprises. Truthfully, I kept expecting two things: (1) for Toni to turn out to be too good to be true and (2) for Beth to cross a line at some point with her best friend [Laural] who she’s crushed out on. Especially considering how vulnerable Beth was for most of the book. When Beth did kinda sorta halfway cross that line with Ricki, it seemed a bit odd, awkward, and felt not what Beth would have done no matter how inebriated. She was pissed at Toni @ the time, but she wouldn’t have been susceptible to Ricki without having an emotional connect to her (that would have been interesting to develop).
Anyway, I still think it was a treat to read. I’ll be looking for much more from Ms. Marina --hopefully spinning downhill with no brakes next time.
