The Baptist: Judge's Genesis (English Edition) Kindle版
John Revele is a cop in Baltimore, lost inside the human condition. His passion for retribution of the innocent drives him to abandon all reason and rise up to battle evil on the streets in a vigilante blitz. However, more may be going on in the spectrum of good and evil than he realized. Supernatural forces are at play and God and the devil agree to a rematch for the souls of humanity. When a brilliant physicist births Time-Travel, the space-time continuum is disturbed, creating an alternate reality in which history shifts. Timelines are reset, and a series of Biblical events begin again, in our modern world... From street thugs, to mob kingpins, sex traffickers and demonic forces, Revele brings his fight full force, only to realize there is a much bigger war going on. In the face of true evil, he will have to defeat his greatest nemesis--himself--in order to truly be ready for the next stage of the fight...

Once you start, it's very hard to put the book down....

This book is captivating to read. It paints a realistic picture of what we observe everyday: injustice, poverty, and human suffering. We are not given easy, pat answers. Rather, the author draws us into the mind of John Revele, a man who is trying to right the wrongs of the world by all (legal or illegal) means. In this journey with Revele, we are shown the "real" reality behind all these evils. The biblical themes of justice, righteousness, hope are latently interwoven into the novel. Highly recommend!

I could change the world!

In the year 2041, the world has become a worse place than we could imagine. On the brink of war, the world is on the verge of actually seeing time travel achieved in order to fix all the mistakes we've made. But, Baltimore cop, John Revele is lost inside the human condition. His passion for retribution of the innocent drives him to madness as he realizes there is not much he can do within the law. Outside of it is a different story all together. He rises up to battle evil on the streets in a vigilante blitz, but he learns that more is going on in the spectrum of good and evil then he realized. Supernatural forces are at play and God and the devil have made an arrangement for the souls of humanity. From street thugs, to mob kingpins, sex traffickers, and demonic forces, Revele brings his fight full force, but only to realize there is a much bigger war going on. In the face of evil--true evil--he will have to defeat his greatest nemesis--himself--in order to truly be ready for the next stage of the fight...

The Baptist: Judge's Genesisand the first book in the dystopian/action series by Ryan Gerard.
So this book covers a lot of sensitive topics and is a very heavy and I found myself taking multiple breaks and shifting between other books just to try and feel comfortable to love on. This is more because we get a lot of information with scenes flashing between times and various important characters to keep track of, it felt like too much to handle.
The author's inclusion of time travel does not fit the stereotypical one, but instead has a different approach.
Basically, a lot of the elements in this story are common, yet different and that's why I liked it a lot. There's a lot of action and adventure for those who enjoy the genre, however things can get pretty graphic.
Majority of the plot was very engaging, but they were instances were I was getting bored or things that could happen in a jiffy felt prolonged, but I did find the overall story complex yet engrossing.
There are so many characters that I don't know where to start, who to talk about more so I'm not going to because they were all perfectly done to fit the aesthetic of the book
But no matter what happened in the book, nothing prepared me for that ending and for the first time I was happy that a book of this magnitude did not end on a cliché but was different, it may not be a new way for a cliffhanger, but it's definitely one of the lesser used ones that left me in tears after all the chaos that took place. I'm so looking forward to see what happens next in the series.
