A riveting page-turner, a woman caught in the crosshairs of an agri-business’ corporate assassin.

Against hope, Smythe Windwalker Daniels anonymity is compromised and a creditable threat has been made against her life. As the threats ratchet up, she feels she has no place to hide. The danger impacts not only her life but the lives of those around her. She reluctantly accepts the FBI’s protection, hoping to testify and bring a promise of justice to a community.

Smythe is a woman with vision in her eyes and fire in her soul. From a young age, Smythe was discriminated against as a mixed race girl in a predominately white neighborhood. She travels to Hawaii to escape the corporate rat race, only to get entangled in a pesticide poisoning cover-up attempt by a mega corporation. While on the run, she seeks to find meaning in events that now threaten her life. Through a series of misadventures she discovers how all events are all woven together in this tapestry called “life.”

As she uses her past experience to find meaning in her present, she begins to see beauty in the midst of chaos. But the harder she tries to hide, the more difficult it is to survive.

著者について

Opa Hysea Wise is an American author, born to mixed-race parents. She grew up across the United States and currently resides out West.

As an adult, Opa understood the deep need for connection that we as humans have. Like so many people of color, the longer she remained in the States, the more she came to experience a sense of “otherness.” Those experiences fueled her desire to discuss diversity as the woven fabric within the American tapestry.

She worked as a Training and Development specialist and manager in Government and Corporate organizations. Often tasked to develop and deliver diversity courses, Opa brought a sense of understanding, compassion, and a call to action to her audience with the firm knowledge that returning to the connection we all have as one body in this universe would be but one step to returning to love.

This book was a real treat! A thrilling page turner that held my attention from beginning to end! Very well written, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful novel with life lessons entwined within. I look forward to more books from this author!!

No Place to Hide is a suspenseful page-turner, but the real thrill in the story is Smythe's development over the course of the story.

Smythe is a fascinating character, with a rich background, and a deep connection to life, and her higher-self. This is just as much a murder mystery as it is a story of self-discovery and the adventure of life.

Very enjoyable, engaging read. I look forward to reading more from Wise.

Smythe is the oldest of three daughters, the one that has to take responsibility for difficult decisions when her mother can’t handle the strain. When her father has an inoperable stroke, it is Smythe who has to make the best choice for her father and notify her siblings. When Smythe witnesses a murder, she has to rely on herself to get through a harrowing situation snd come out the other side. I really liked the growth of the main character throughout the book, as well as the balance between action and characterization. The only issue I had was there were some preachy parts of the book. Suspenseful, intriguing, and with a surprise ending, lovers of suspense will enjoy this book.

I love this book so much!!!! It is incredibly well written (and narrated in the Audible version!), such an engaging story of intrigue and connection, peppered with life lessons that kept me wanting more. The main character is so authentic and vulnerable, she truly inspires! Nicely Done Opa Hysea Wise!❤️

In a way this felt like a mix of John Grisham's The Pelican Brief and The Client, minus the legal parts. The author is a wonderful writer with a great vocabulary and well done story structure. One thing though, I would have loved more intensity throughout. I picked this book believing it was a fast-paced thriller/suspense but it didn't quite hit that level. But otherwise nicely done.
