Dishonorable Miss DeLancey, The (Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace Book 3) (English Edition) Kindle版
Will a damaged reputation and desire for society's approval thwart the legacy of grace?
Tainted by scandal and forced to leave London for the quieter Brighton countryside, the Honorable Miss Clara DeLancey is a shadow of her former society self. She's lost the man she loved to another and, in a culture that has no patience for self-pity, is struggling with depression. A chance encounter brings her a healing friendship with the sisters of an injured naval captain. But Clara's society mama is appalled at the new company she's keeping.
Captain Benjamin Kemsley is not looking for a wife. But his gallant spirit won't let him ignore the penniless viscount's daughter--not when she so obviously needs assistance to keep moving forward from day to day. Can he protect his heart and still keep her safe?
When they're pushed into the highest echelons of society at the Prince Regent's Brighton Pavilion, this mismatched couple must decide if family honor is more important than their hopes. Can they right the wrongs of the past and find future happiness together--without finances, family support, or royal favor?
The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey is full of the captivating, flawed characters, fascinating historical details, and masterful writing that Carolyn Miller's fans have come to know in The Elusive Miss Ellison and The Captivating Lady Charlotte. If you love Lori Wick, Georgette Heyer, and other clean, wholesome Regency romance, you'll love this third book in the Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace series.

レビュー
"With compelling characters and an engaging story, encapsulated by the romantic era of Regency England, Carolyn Miller's writing style is reminiscent of Jane Austen, with a modern sense of wit and spunk."-- (07/02/2017) --このテキストは、kindle_edition版に関連付けられています。
著者について
Award-winning author Carolyn Miller lives in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia. She is married, with four gorgeous children, who all love to read (and write!).
A longtime lover of Regency romance, Carolyn's novels have won a number of Romance Writers of American (RWA) and American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) contests as well as the Australian Omega Christian Writers Award. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Australasian Christian Writers. Her favourite authors are classics like Jane Austen (of course!), Georgette Heyer, and Agatha Christie, but she also enjoys contemporary authors like Susan May Warren and Becky Wade.
Her stories are fun and witty, yet also deal with real issues, such as dealing with forgiveness, the nature of really loving versus 'true love', and other challenges we all face at different times.
Her books include:
Regency Brides: A Legacy of Grace
The Elusive Miss Ellison
The Captivating Lady Charlotte
The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey
Regency Brides: A Promise of Hope
Winning Miss Winthrop
Miss Serena's Secret
The Making of Mrs. Hale
Regency Bride: Daughers of Aynsley
A Hero for Miss Hatherleigh
Underestimating Miss Cecilia
Misleading Miss Verity --このテキストは、kindle_edition版に関連付けられています。

Absolutely loved this, my favourite of the first of this three-book series (within a larger series). Plays to the Regency genre conventions well and you won't find here the tiresome insipid heroines or poor writing found in other Regency writing; this is smart and moving and makes you think - highly recommend. And I am a big fan of redeeming characters whom readers hated in previous books, which this book does really well. Love the cover too.

An excellent way to end this trilogy.

You know when an author can get you to love a character you previously disliked, that's excellent writing. Well, that's what happened in The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey. Clara was the typical vapid, snobbish aristocrat brought down by own her pride and her brother's gambling. She has lost all hope for a decent future. Enter naval hero Ben Kemsley. He's not wealthy, he's not upper class. But he's perfect for Clara.
Clara begins to look outside of herself and focus on others which begins the healing process. And Ben is there for her every step of the way. Of the three books in this series, this one spoke most to my heart. The power of forgiveness and gratitude are represented well in both characters.
This book, as the others, can stand alone. However, you do miss some interesting details if you don't read them all, so I highly recommend the entire trilogy.

great addition to the series

Another enjoyable book in the series. I enjoyed seeing Clara finally come to terms with things and find happiness at last, with the bonus of seeing more of old friends from previous books and getting to know new ones. Having said that, this book does largely stand alone and therefore could be read without the previous books in the series. One quibble about the book is that the plot near the end didn't feel very well worked out - we never really hear what the plan was on either side, and I did feel that it let down the story a bit. However, that didn't stop the book being thoroughly enjoyable on the whole. The book is clean and well written, and I look forward to reading more by the author in future. Highly recommended.

Great author, interesting and Godly stories

I think this was my favourite in the 3 novels. It was very encouraging to read and fun. I love how this author keeps God present in her books unlike other "Christian" novels where God is only mentioned once or twice. I think this author is very good about keeping a book interesting while still keeping Christian virtues. Thank you!

The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey #3 Regency Brides A Legacy of Grace by Carolyn Miller
1815 Brighton Cliffs, England...the opening scenes of this story certainly captured my attention...I was holding my breath at one point!...as Miss Clara DeLancey finds herself in a rather dangerous predicament, thus setting the “stage” for what follows. I was not very fond of Clara in the first two books and was wondering how her story would unfold and if I would ultimately find her likable at least. I will say that the author has done a fantastic job in redeeming Clara in my eyes by weaving such a heart-tugging backstory for Clara, her growing-faith-journey in Jesus and in developing a humble-character that I could not help but find her charming. Well done Carolyn Miller! I still find her society-climbing mother hard to like.
Then we meet Captain Benjamin Kemsley, who is by far my favorite character in this story. I love his heart, honor and integrity, honesty, humor, the way he cares for his family and those in need and his strong faith. His family—well not so much his brother, captured my heart as well. I loved watching Ben and Clara interact on the occasions they meet and how their hearts yearned for more than friendship. I was hoping they would put the so-called social barriers behind them and allow themselves to find love.
I was happy to see some of the beloved characters from the first two books return in this book so we get a glimpse of their lives since we last saw them. I enjoyed the historical detail of Brighton’s seaside—beautiful, London in all it’s splendor and the Prince Regent’s ostentatious spending on a Grand Pavilion….oh my, it hurt my eyes/senses experiencing it through Clara and Ben’s first visit there! I especially appreciate the inspirational elements woven throughout the story and the importance of faith to the characters. The Dishonorable Miss DeLancey is a story of hope, redemption, forgiveness and relying on God—especially in times when you want to give up, fascinating details and well developed characters that come alive on the pages. A delightful, heartwarming story!
