engaging time travel fiction!

It has been a while since I read this book and I didn't review it right away, despite really enjoying it, because I was upset about the cliffhanger ending - I hadn't expected it at all and I hate those! Well, unless I already have the rest of the story (in this case, I didn't and the next book wasn't released yet)....
Now that time has passed and I think of the book, I remember truly engaging in the plot - I love time travel fiction and I found the story exciting with the situations Megan found herself in, and very interesting with the historical elements involved. I found myself empathizing with Megan as a teenager living a troubled life in the present and loved watching her blossom through her travels. I was glad to see her build relationships and start to make more mature decisions as the book progressed.
I thought the story was well written: the plot flowed quickly, the characters were developing, and the settings were detailed & descriptive. I would definitely like to read more in this series and from Ms. Allan in general... I think I'll just try to plan to have completed storylines in my possession before diving into books with cliffhangers!

this book was a brilliant read . well writen and a great set of characters. i would recomend this book . i wont disclose any of it as it would spoil it for readers. i cant wait to read the following books in the series .i got this book as an arc from the author and these are my options .

Helen Allan has delivered a book which is a funny, entertaining, intriguing story that is a non stop ride from the beginning.
It is a neat twist to a time travel story that has a fascinating plot and also a dark side to it. A little slow at the beginning it picks up pace quickly and it shows a different technique for travelling through time. A magical scarab is the key.
All the characters are believable, interesting and well developed and the reader is introduced to Egyptology with a modern twist.
Captivating and holding the reader's attention it is a difficult book to put down as the magical scarab has to be kept safe and the main characters kept alive. My only grouse is that the book ends on a cliff hanger.

Just finished this book. It made an interesting read and it's nice to go back to Egyptian historical times. The characters are bold and the storyline flows swiftly. My only small nag would include a spoiler, and as I don't do spoilers I'll leave it at 4 stars.
