Sister Crystal Mary Lindsey (Australian Professional Title) grew up in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The second youngest of five children from a medical family. She is a wife to Raymond, the mother of four adult Christian Children and grandmother to ten. Crystal lived and worked in Tennessee, the U.S. and married a retired Marine from there. I loved the way the author described the Smokey Mountains in the 1880s, describing the scenery and portraying the superstitions of mountain folk. The story pulled me into the lives of Marni, her grandfather, Tucker the dog--then later the romantic developments between Marni and Daniel (Dr. Dupont). Their love and committment carried them through hardships and their reliance on God brought everything to a satisfying conclusion.
I closed the book with a euphoric feeling that I was part of the Dupont family. living in the mountains of East Tennessee in a simpler time, and loved unconditionally through God's grace.
Kudos to this author for her vivid description and the loving atmosphere she so effectively portrayed .

Hidden in the Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee is a mystery healer. At the bottom of the mountain resides a young lady by the name of Marni Granger. She has a childhood scar, a burn from a scalding of a hot pot. The effects of being ridiculed profoundly affected Marni and when she grew up, she hardly got out of her grandpa’s house. One day she took her beloved wolf/dog with her to pick berries, and that’s when calamity struck, but then something good comes out of it. Daniel comes into the plot. He's a reconstructive doctor that dedicates his expertise in providing extraordinary and compassionate care to his patients. This tale seized the compassion and welcoming disposition of the folks that reside in the high country and was written with an author’s love for her savior, Jesus Christ. Stimulating and inspired with romance, Crystal Mary Lindsey’s knowledge of the history of the area expands over a century back. A clean, heartfelt God-centered read.

Surprising story about a young woman with an obvious facial scar, who inadvertently meets a young doctor at first disguised as a farm laborer and offers to help her grandfather. Somehow, she's spiritually guided to his mountain home remaining with him (ignoring norms of the era) until his parents arrive, thus realizing his true identity and romantic intentions. Somewhere between being somewhat confusing but simplistic in presentation and plot with a predictable outcome, this book could pass for a YA book. More concerning aspects involved grammar usage and formatting, especially the difference between plurals and possessives in addition to dashes and commas. Would highly recommend the use of Grammarly.com to assist with editing these aspects. However, cover is eye-catching and title entices one to read this book.

This book shows just what it was like in the late 1880s - how they lived and how 'new' medical ideas were shunned. The book begins with a young woman and her grandfather, he gets to know a couple he meets in town who have nothing. He invites them to live in his son's house (the couple had died & why he is raised his granddaughter) & for them to help with the planting, etc. This couple is black & with 2 young sons. Various things happen and she meets a young doctor who had medical training and had lived in India where he learned very helpful medical helps/surgeries - but is not allowed in the U.S. Plus this books is about depending on God. I could not put this book down, it was so interesting.

The Mystery Healer of Smoky Mountain is a tale set in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennesee. The main character, Marni, is a young woman plagued by insecurity due to an accident that burned one side of her face. She feels she will never find true love.

Daniel, a doctor ahead of his time, struggles to help others with needed reconstructive surgery while having to keep his work a secret from the world. Daniel's character is loving, strong, and with a will to help others.

It's a romantic story, but not without its own troubles. Can Daniel & Marni find love together? A very inspirational and uplifting romance set in 1885. I enjoyed learning about some of the history of the town. The descriptions of the area made me feel like I was there with the characters.
