Wow! Did I just go for a helluva ride! I found "Seeking" on Kindle and read Night-Driver, OMIGOD, amazing descriptive power and intense Eva truck-spirituality. The most of it, the blend of Eva's partnership with big rigs, her affection, her attention to the sounds, the ticking of the engine cooling down, the wildlife and flora, the shirr of the tyres, all of this on the longest straight road in the world. Holy cow was it good. Then the twist. Again the descriptives, the light in the distance, the sound coming long before the vehicle, then the vehicle itself--levitating above the tar, the steps with no support, and we are left to wonder. It's the pulling over before the hallucinations began is key, and the amazing levitating rig must have been a hallucination-though a tyre on Eva's rig popped? A tyre popped while she was hallucinating and she missed it or misremembered the sequence? I had to go back and reread, what happened, I couldn't figure it out yet going back seemed to explain it, or did it? I think it did! All-in-all, best story I've read in a long time.
