I love the world that Christina has created for this series. There's a very distinct mood to it. It's kind of dark and gloomy. At times, it's almost depressing but I think that makes the brighter moments and the happily ever after that much better.
After reading Moon Flower, I was really excited for Bellamy's story. Shifters and fated mates are my jam and I can't get enough of them. In Moon Flower, Bellamy seemed so sad. I wanted him to find happiness again. I was intrigued by the references to his mate and I really wanted to know what caused their separation. I'm glad that we got to see firsthand how he and Ashwood fell in love and how Ash betrayed him.
But I've gotta say that Bellamy made me pretty angry. He was so mean to Ash and for way too long. I totally get where he's coming from. He had a right to be upset but he was bullheaded in his refusal to listen to anything that Ash had to say. It made me sad that he'd treat his mate so poorly. The way he treated Oscar sucked too. Oscar was only trying to help save his life and yet he was a jerk to him.
I loved that Ash was the key to curing Bellamy. I mean, isn't the whole point of fated mates being that they are 100% it for the other? Their love, their life, their salvation? Ash being as sweet as he was made me hate Bell's attitude even more. Ash took everything Bell throw at him and was willing to sacrifice his own happiness to appease Bell. My heart broke for him over and over.
Things have a way of working themselves out and that's true here as well. I won't tell you how things play out but I will say that the ending is worth all the angst and that I absolutely adored the epilogue.
