Her Dark Wings (English Edition) Kindle版
Her Dark Wings is a modern-day take on the Persephone myth, infused with the intense potency of teenage passions. The richness of Greek myth is vividly brought to life by the immediacy and originality of a fiery, contemporary drama. And iconic mythic figures crackle and change as a modern girl fills the Underworld with new life.Exploring the thin line between love and hate, obsession and attraction, friendship and betrayal, this is a breathless and bold story, beautifully told by an exceptional writer. It's about a girl who realises what she wants and, in getting it, brings soul to a stagnant world, and change to an unyielding god. It's about life - and hope - blooming in the unlikeliest of places. It's about being brave enough to release your wings.

I could not put this book down

My 13 year old chose the book as she is a big fan of Greek mythology, especially Hades. We were going to read it together, which we started to, but whilst she was at school I devoured the whole book, it was that good!! Yes I do feel guilty, but she will catch up
It’s a different take on the Hades and persepephone story and I loved it. The emotion was there, the love, the hurt, the betrayal, you could feel the tension. I cannot recommend this book enough
You’ve also got cheeky Hermes, who you can’t help but love, the furies, who you know you shouldn’t like, but you find yourself rooting for them and understanding them a little more. I loved Hades, the brooding Lord of the Underworld, and Corey (Persephone) a strong, feisty character that you can’t help but call in love with.
Corey is betrayed by her best friend Bree and boyfriend Ali, she loses them both just like that. She finds herself confused, angry and mostly betrayed. When Bree dies, after Corey wished her dead, she knows she should be sad, but she’s still angry. This is Corey’s journey of finding where she belongs

Persephone and Hades retelling!

17yo Corey discovers that her boyfriend is cheating on her with her best friend Bree. This devastates her and she feels like they’ve been laughing at her behind her back the whole time. Corey is so hurt and angry that she wishes Bree would die and soon after, Bree drowns. Now Corey regrets her wish and wants Bree and their friendship back. When Corey thinks she sees Bree and chases after her, she falls into the Underworld and her life is turned inside out.
Likes/dislikes: I didn’t like Ali, the boyfriend, because of his selfishness. The character development is well done. Fantastic world building.
Mature Content: PG-13 for implied sex and underage drinking.
Language: R for 25 swears and 21 f-words.
Violence: PG for hitting.
Ethnicity: falls to white.

Clever and entertaining

There is so much to love with this novel: clever world-building and bits for mythology geeks; betrayal and intrigue relevant to teens; coming of age and making tough choices. I read it in one go and bought it for my reluctant-reader teen who hasn’t put it down.

This book was so good, I felt like I was in it with the characters. A Hades and Persephone take set in modern day - if you like Greek mythology then you'll love this. I can't actually articulate how good it is, you just have to read it to find out!
